Until women get the right to vote, things are gonna go boom. Director Scot Shamblin brings us Alex Zola and Terry Tocantins' Suffragette, a play loosely based on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and historical events surrounding the Suffrage movement. Audiences will remember Shamblin's powerful Anthrough from last year's festival and once again he brings us an eye-opening and thought-provoking evening of theatre. Tickets to Suffragette! are free as part of the BFF Binge Fringe Festival of FREE Theatre – your new BFF – the third annual official Santa Monica Fringe Festival of theatre. The BFF (October 15 – November 12) offers over four dozen plays, workshops and an overflowing toy-box of special family-oriented events, to delight your senses and tickle your funny bone – and every single one of them is FREE, thanks to generous grants from the City of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Arts Commission, Pearl and Bill Bordy, the Cotkin Family and Playhouse PALS. Two shows only – Oct 18 and 19 at 8pm. BFF events fill up fast, so get your tickets to Suffragette! now by emailing education@SantaMonicaPlayhouse.com or calling 1-310-394-9779 ext 3 and then visit SantaMonicaPlayhouse.com for a complete list of events.
