1-2-3-Go! THE VET, THE IMAM, HIS WOMAN AND HER PREACHER share the stage with IN SEARCH OF INTIMACY for a double-bill afternoon of exciting theatre, as RAW Theatre at Santa Monica Playhouse presents encore presentations of two of its innovative 2017 productions in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day 2018.

At 2:30 on the Main Stage it’s THE VET… A Vet, an Imam and a Preacher walk into a bar… so begins the latest ShortBurst® theatre piece from Santa Monica Playhouse. Intense, insightful, humorous, and at least a little disturbing, this original piece of theatre, explores the intricacies of on-the-edge behavior and the intimacies of over-the-edge relationships, leaving no stone unturned and no icon unharried. From passion to politics, homelessness to healing, religion to relationships, from a battle of wills to the battles of the flesh, it’s a raw expose of the rampant social, moral and sexual prejudices of our troubled world.

At 4:00 in The Other Space, get ready for INTIMACY… A smart bomb destroys a village. A middle name sends up a red flag at the airport. A teacher goes postal. A husband and wife come clean. A provocative theatre event that fuses poetry, prose, movement and video imagery taking us on a sometimes tantalizing, sometimes titillating, often terrifying look at our search for fulfillment and the desperate desire for completion that hovers always at the edge of our awareness.

And with a Green Beer and Green Nibbles post-show reception, it’s the perfect way to spend St. Patrick’s Day afternoon, and still have plenty of time for more serious Irish-themed pursuits in the evening.
