"A winning blend of vaudeville, English pantomime and music hall." DRAMA-LOGUE. It's a wild and crazy ride as the Fairy Stories for Pride company presents a "fabulous" re-invention of Lewis Carroll's wonderful Wonderland stories in an imaginative recreation of the celebrated Rudie-DeCarlo musical Alice and the Wonderful Tea Party.
It's a perfect night out with all seats at $20, where everyone is invited to enjoy a glass of complimentary champagne or sparkling cider to toast Lewis Carroll's 120th birth year! Vaudeville, burlesque, panto, farce and fantasy combine to make this musical a no-holds-barred evening of hilarious theatre. Alice (now a grown woman) returns to Wonderland at the invitation of her old friend, the Queen of Hearts, to find things just as madcap as ever. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, the world's most famous enantiomorphs, have eaten all the food for the tea party, and the Queen is furious. Alice is put in charge of producing refreshments and entertainment, her search taking her on a delightful excursion through the world of puns, fantasy, and surreal humor that Lewis Carroll so intriguingly created. A "jewel of a theatre" (Jewish Journal), Santa Monica Playhouse "knows what its audience expects from an evening of theatre" (LA TIMES). Written by Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie, Alice and the Fabulous Tea Party is re-imagined and performed by the Fairy Stories for Pride Company: Ali Cesur, Luke Martin McMahan, Joseph Perez, Graham Silbert, and Nima Ghassemian as Alice. Broadway-quality costumes by Graham Silbert, Nima Ghassemian's special effects, and James Cooper's ornately detailed Victorian garden-themed salon set create the perfect Wonderland feel.
